The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched a free six-month training program in poultry farming for 120 youths in Plateau State. AgroNigeria
This training is conducted via the National Youth Skills Acquisition Fund (NYESAF), under the IDEAS Project (Innovation, Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills). AgroNigeria
Dr. Daniel Jarafu, CEO of VetVille Nigeria (one of the training service providers), stated at the launch in Jos that the initiative aims to empower young people with skills that will make them self-sufficient, skilled, and even employers of labor — contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth. The training is structured in two phases:
- 3 months of theoretical training
- 3 months of practical, hands-on training AgroNigeria
At the end of the training, participants will take the National Skills Qualifications (NSQs) Examination, which will grant them a national certification comparable to formal education certification. AgroNigeria
Prof. Arhyel Balami, Guest of Honour at the inauguration, praised the federal government’s initiative, noting that it will give youths hands-on agricultural skills for sustainable livelihoods. AgroNigeria
Balami also encouraged the trainees to be diligent and attentive while undergoing training. AgroNigeria
NYESAF’s broader plan is to train 75,000 youths nationwide, aiming to boost job creation, entrepreneurship, and economic independence. AgroNigeria+1
